100th Anniversary of Japantown Community Picnic - San Francisco, CA
A community-wide picnic reminiscent of the large outdoor gatherings that occurred in the early and mid 1900’s. These picnics were a vital part of the social fabric of the Japanese-American community and this year’s event will recreate those fun-loving celebrations and provide a vehicle for individuals, families and groups to meet and get re-acquainted. There will be games for children and adults. Families will bring their own picnic lunches, and bring dessert for a community sharing table. A community sponsored mid-afternoon barbeque of hot dogs will be provided. There will be an exhibit of old photographs from past picnics. Live entertainment will be provided.
